With the Annual Leaseurope Convention just around the corner, we’ve put together our must-sees for those joining the Acquis team in Alicante on the 3rd and 4th of October. From castles to markets, museums and monuments, read on to find out what the city has to offer!
1. Explore the cuisine at Mercat Central d’Alacant
Spain is world famous for its tapas so a trip to Alicante wouldn’t be complete without a taste of the food the region has to offer. The Central Market of Alicante (or Mercat Central d’Alacant) sells everything from just freshly caught seafood to colourful fruit and veg. After a walk around the market, you can head to one of the tapas bars scattered on the outside to enjoy some of the produce.
2. See the art at Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante)
For those who like to take in some of the art that a city has to offer, a trip to the Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art is a must. Situated in one of the oldest civic buildings in the city, built in 1685, the museum features a collection of work from the Alicante-born artist, Juana Francés, alongside sculptures and other artwork from prominent 20th-century artists.
3. Stroll around the Castillo de Santa Barbara
Situated atop of Mount Benacantil in the heart of Alicante is Castillo de Santa Barbara. For those who want to take in some of the history of the city or perhaps the gorgeous panoramic views, taking a tour of the fortress and the Old Dungeons is the perfect way to learn more about the formerly abandoned castle. For those who don’t want to climb the mountain, there is also a handy lift to get you to the top!
4. Take in the architecture of the city
If you want to explore the architectural sights of a city, Alicante has plenty to offer- from the Casa Carbonell to the Oficina De Correos, the Casa De Bruixes Building to the Concatedral de San Nicolás, there is so much to see while you wonder the streets with a café con leche.
5. Wander up the Passeig Esplanada d’Espanya
Situated at the port, the Passeig Esplanada d’Espanya is one of the most popular spots in the city. The 600m long mosaic walkway lined with palm trees runs from the main city down to the port and is the perfect place to grab an evening drink. With lots of seating and souvenir shops it’s the perfect place to grab a souvenir magnet to let everyone know you’ve been to Alicante.
Philippe Lacquehay, Sonia Fellah Riyad, Martin Lenhert, Bineta Sow and Luis Targhetta from Acquis will be attending the Leaseurope conference in Acquis on 3rd and 4th October. To find out more visit here.
